Todays rhythm makes us go running from one place to another. But nature has its own clock and some things need its time to reach perfection. Our Ochoa Reserva is one of them.
In Spain, we denominate Reserva to those wines that spend in oak barrels a minimum of 12 months and 24 months in bottle. However, the origin of its name is because we “reserve” the best grapes to make Ochoa Reserva or Ochoa Gran Reserva. This is the reason why we select the vintages we think are the best.
Ochoa Reserva is made every year. However, Ochoa Gran Reserva only in selected ones and the quantity produced may vary.
This wine comes from an exhaustive selection of grapes in the vineyard. Then it is controlled in barrel and bottle giving it the necessary time to become a Reserva of the best quality.
The blend of both wines is made from Tempranillo 60%, Merlot 22% and Cabernet Sauvignon 23%. Ochoa Reserva is aged in oak barrels for 18 months and then kept in bottle for 3 years minimum. Ochoa Reserva is a mature red wine, maintaining its fruit character showing elegance and softness.
However, Ochoa Gran Reserva is aged in oak barrels for 24 months minimum and then kept in bottle for a minimum of 5 years. Ochoa Gran Reserva is also a mature red wine, with more toasted character showing aromas of chocolate, coffee and spices. Despite its age, the fruit character is darker and more plummy. Very long in the palate and soft finish.
