The Sommelier Wine Awards (SWA) are one of the most prestigious awards in the professional sector of the UK market and the principal referee for the trade.
SWA is a contest orientated exclusively to the on trade and its judges are professional sommeliers in the UK and internationally.
This year’s winners include two wines from Bodegas Ochoa.
8 A Uvadoble 2016 from Bodegas Ochoa has been awarded with a bronze medal SWA. It is a dry white wine, with a stone fruit character on the nose and a perfect balance in the mouth between two grapes that start with the letter V: Viognier and Viura. Medium finish given by its ageing on its lees for 6 months.
The idea of creating this wine was born after Adriana Ochoa’s vintage experience in Australia in Yalumba winery. She fell in love with this grape and experienced with it in Navarra after her return to the family business.
The first vintage of this wine was 2014.
The Wine Ochoa Tempranillo Crianza 2014 has been commended in this contest. This wine was created by Javier Ochoa in 1987, who chose this privileged grape to make an excellent quality red wine. Aged for 12 months in American oak casks. Since then, it has become a great flagship of Bodegas Ochoa.
Bodegas Ochoa wants to dedicate these awards this time to its employees, mostly those that work every day in the vineyard to obtain the quality standards required by Ochoa. Because thanks to them, our wines get awards like these.
