INNOVATION
REPLANTVID is an applied field research project that studies how we replant our vineyard so that it is better prepared for climate change. The project has been designed by Viticultura Viva, a viticultural consultancy, which also participates in part of the field trials and seeks to draw conclusions applicable to the sector. The Public University of Navarra (UPNA) provides the scientific analysis of the soil and the plants. At Bodegas Ochoa we provide the plots and carry out the field work.

WHY DO WE DO IT?
Every time we replant a plot we have the opportunity to do it better: choosing the right soil treatment can make a difference to plant health for decades. We want our own data on what works in our Traibuenas soils, rather than relying solely on generic industry recommendations.
OBJECTIVES
- Identify which soil treatment yields the best results on our specific Traibuenas soils.
- Improve the survival and vigour of new plantings using fewer external inputs.
- Our own data on soil microbial activity to underpin our regenerative management decisions.
- Results that can be extrapolated to the replanting work we will be carrying out in the coming years.
